The Indonesia spy scandal and the future for Australia

Recently, bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia disturbed by the phone-hacking case President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono by Australian intelligence agencies. The government of Indonesia has decided to reduce the level of diplomatic relationship with Australia regarding that spying scandal. Not only that, Indonesia also halts cooperation in military training and refuge.  The relationship between two countries plunged to the lowest point in recent years. Unfortunately, those elites of both countries did not take the right decision at that very time which they only concerned with their image and egos that causes bilateral relationship that has been built since a long ago destroyed just like that.
Indeed, what Australian intelligence agencies did was threatening the security and interest of Indonesia, but on the other side, it is the rights of Australians to seeking for more information of its strategic partner in order to achieve their interest, in this case Australia is doing it secretly. In simple, at the very first time this case happened, they should solve it through diplomacy, for an instance by conducting negotiation before it becomes the ongoing problems as what happen right now. This case must be handled by the elites of two countries, wisely, if it is failed, then it will cause a crisis of trust between leaders of two countries and it will be hard to build a diplomatic relationship that's based on trust in the future. And the Australian government should have to learn to be wise.
